Camping, being outdoors, and developing a respect for nature are essential components of the Camp Fire USA program.  Camp Fire believes in:

• the power of nature to awaken a child’s senses, curiosity, and desire to learn.
• building relationships with adults and peers as a cornerstone for every child.
• creating experiences that will build caring and confident youth today who will grow into tomorrow’s future leaders.

Cutting-edge studies and research conducted by youth development specialists throughout the nation indicate that children must interact with nature in order to develop as physically and emotionally healthy youth.  Furthermore, research indicates that the lack of outdoor activities and interaction with nature has resulted in the rise in obesity, attention disorders, and depression found in youth throughout our nation today.  

Camp Fire agrees with the outcomes of these studies and provides youth attending Camp Fire camps with exceptional, relative, and educational activities that meet outcomes such as:

• planning and decision making.
• cultural competence, sensitivity, and friendship building.
• extended friendship circles.
• teamwork and a sense of “fair play”.
• peaceful conflict resolution.
• service to the community.
• constructive use of time.
• caring adult relationships.

Camp Fire USA is proud of its long-standing relationship with Gamma Phi Beta Foundation and Gamma Phi Beta International Sorority that provides scholarships to low-income girls to attend camp each summer.
