JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:
Camp Fire USA/Positive Tomorrows

Summer Program Team Leader

  1. ACCOUNTABLE TO:
    1. Camp Fire USA/Positive Tomorrows Program Directors
    2. Camp Fire USA/Positive Tomorrows Program Coordinator

  2. GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY:
    Team Leaders will assist the Program Directors, Program Coordinator and other team members in the planning, coordinating and implementation of programs for participating in the Camp Fire USA/Positive Tomorrows Summer Program.

  3. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    1. Must be at least 19 years of age.
    2. Ability to organize and manage small group activities.
    3. Commitment to Camp Fire USA values.
    4. Able to work outside and possibly be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
    5. Ability to communicate well with children.
    6. Ability to be on feet and walk long distances.
    7. Physical demands of job: Ability to lift or move 25 lbs., able to stand, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch.
    8. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

  4. QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Must be able to assist the Program Directors, Program Coordinator and other team members in planning a program of educational and recreational activities based on the needs of the youth in the program, and keeping with the philosophies of Camp Fire USA and Positive Tomorrows.
    2. Experience and desire to work with youth going into grades 1st through 9th who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
    3. Able to plan age appropriate activities for age group assigned.
    4. Must be able to attend all weekly staff meetings.
    5. Able to assist in the implementation of all aspects of the program as assigned.
    6. Responsible for the well being of youth in assigned group.
    7. Assure the confidentiality, security and welfare of participants.
    8. CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
    9. Must be able and willing to work cooperatively with all staff members; must be a team player.
    10. Must be willing and able to be flexible from day to day or week to week on program assignments.
    11. Willing to follow through on other duties as may be assigned.

  7. SUMMER PROGRAM * GENERAL INFORMATION
    1. DATES OF EMPLOYMENT:
      June7th – August 9th, 2004

    2. HOURS:
      Approximately 32 hours/week
      Mondays, 1:00 – 3:00 pm Staff Meeting/Training
      Tuesday – Friday, 8:00 am – 3:30 pm

    3. PAY:$7.50 /hour

  8. WEEKLY ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE:
    Arts and Crafts, Games, Field Trips, Camp Activities, Service Projects, Etc.

  9. 2004 REQUIRED STAFF TRAINING DATES:
    Monday, June 7th – Friday, June 11th, 2004, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily--EVERY MONDAY (beginning June 14th) – 1:00 – 3:00 pm

  10. 2004 SUMMER PROGRAM SESSION DATES:
    Session #1 – June 14 --18
    Session #2 – June 21 --25
    Session #3 – June 28 – July 2
    NO CAMP JULY 5 – JULY 9
    Session #4 – July 12 – 16
    Session #5 – July 19 – 23
    Session #6 – July 26 -- 30
    Session #7 – August 2 -- 6
    Program closeout will be Monday, August 9, 2004
